Update on Chris from his wife Mary

Update on Chris from his wife Mary

Our family has been going through a medical struggle and we want you to know what is going on so you can send good thoughts/prayers for Chris. Here is an update on Chris.

Christopher Lower's Journey to Heart 2.0

Chris had his heart transplant 2 ½ years ago, and he’s had no heart issues until the first week of January. He was feeling off and we went to the U of M to get things checked out and we found that the heart was having problems.
He’s been in the hospital since then getting things sorted out.

Good news is that all the treatment they’ve given his heart has helped – unfortunately all the medicine and time spent resting his heart has done a number on his kidneys so he’s currently in treatment to get that squared away so he can come home in a week or so.

He’s been off social media/text/Email for a while – please direct messages to me if you have any comments. [email protected]

He had a huge smile on his face a few hours ago when we visited – the heart biopsy he’ll have tomorrow should give us a better idea when he’ll be back in action.

Update:

To get a full report of what is going on, check out more by reading Chris’ Journey to Heart 2.0. We will continue to update when there is more news to share. Thank you all for being great fans and supporters of Chris and Hacking Salt. I know Chris loves to hear your words of encouragement.

  1. We will keep you in our prayers. I found hacking salt last year when my husband was in mayo for heart issues. Three cardio versions and 2 ablations plus recovery and all is well. He is on 2000 mg of salt a day. I learned so much from hacking salt.
    Thank you!

  2. recently my husband had a heart attack, he is doing well,Power of Prayer, was our biggest tool, right now praying for Chris and your family. after the attack the hardest thing was changing how I cook, I love to cook but when I get ready to serve it I want it to taste good. Thanks to Chris, I’ve began to enjoy what we are eating again.

    again I will be praying

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about Chris’s medical issues, I was hoping it wasn’t health reason for his absence. He and you all are in my thoughts and prayers. This blog, and the work Chris put into, it made a HUGE difference in my life. Last year, on 5/11/16 I was diagnosed with CHF. Not only did Chris give me recipes and humor, he also gave me hope…the most important ingredient. As of 9/14/16 my EF was back in the normal range, thanks in part to Chris (& others) who shared their journey. I’m glad to hear he’s smiling.
