You can make a batter from scratch, and then you need to make sure you have low sodium baking powder and baking soda on hand. As a busy parent of 3 kids, my wife and I are always on the lookout for something that makes our job of getting breakfast on the table easier for us.

I was thrilled to find Sturdiwheat’s All Natural Pancake Mix. A bonus for me is that they are a local Minnesota Business I can support. They are located in Red Wing, Minnesota and make their products in small batches. We found this at Hyvee, but many stores carry it. I was not able to find the low sodium version on Amazon, but you can buy direct from the Sturdiwheat website.

The mix itself is super easy to use, just adding water. I like to make thicker pancakes so I cut the water in half and make up the other half with soda water. I also add cinnamon and vanilla to my pancakes. The 1/4 cup serving makes 2 large pancakes or 4 medium size cakes. Make sure you use unsalted butter and low sodium maple syrup to finish it off. You should then have some room in your sodium milligrams for a slice or two of low sodium bacon! Add a low sodium Bloody Mary, and make it a brunch!

Let me know if you have found any other low sodium baking or pancake mixes you like in the comments below!
